Restoring the Vision: MCI's Eye Care Outreach Program

Minority Care International (MCI) is developing a program to address the health care needs of the impoverished. Due to poor sanitation conditions and a lack of resources, many suffer from hunger and its long-term effects of malnutrition, reduced immunities, and diseases MCI has helped provide vitamins, over the counter medicines, medicinal cremes, and antibiotics as well as office visits for those with illnesses or injuries. Teams working through MCI have taught health care, dental hygiene, and nursing practices. MCI partnered with The University of Mindanao to hold a conference Clinical Competencies of Nurses for the Global Market. Also, nursing professionals provided care during pregancy and prenatal training. To assist in giving the poor hope through health care, and the scholars opportunities to serve others, MCI plans to expand its health care projects to include clinics offered in partnership with local health care workers and the MCI scholars who are currently in nursing school, more health education, and needs assessment for remote communities.
